The Manifest is where your team reads the day's details, so it's also where they can add them. You can leave notes on a trip or a timeslot, and fix a guest's custom field answers without opening the trip.

Three kinds of notes
These look similar but live in different places:
- Manifest Note: one note per reservation, shown in the Manifest Note column.
- Diary Notes: the trip's running notes. The Diary Notes column lists them, and selecting it opens the trip's Notes tab.
- Timeslot note: one note for the timeslot itself, shown as a pill on the timeslot header.
All of them are internal. Guests never see them.
Add or edit a Manifest Note
- In the Manifest Note column, select + Add note, or the pencil if a note exists. If you don't see the column, turn it on in Customize columns.
- Type your note in the Add a Note window.
- Select Save.
There's no delete button. To remove a note, clear the text and save. Notes can't be edited while you're offline.
Add a note to a timeslot
Select Add Note on the timeslot's header, type your note, and save. To change it, select the pencil. Long notes show a Show more link after about 100 characters.
A timeslot note also shows on the Calendar for that date and time, where it can be edited, and it prints in the header of the printed Manifest. Clear the text to remove it. The note pill is hidden when you have the headers pinned or when several activities are merged at one start time.
Edit custom field values
If your booking form asks guests custom questions, you can correct or add answers on the Manifest. See What are custom fields? for how fields work. Turn on the field's column first, then:
- Trip-level fields edit in the cell: double-click a checkbox, or select a quantity, dropdown, or text cell to change it. The change saves when you finish.
- Per-guest fields open a window when you select the cell. It lists each guest with an input for the answer and a red asterisk for required fields. Change what you need and select Save Changes. Only the guests you changed are saved.
You can edit text, yes/no, number, and dropdown answers this way. Other field types, such as URL, address, date, email, phone, and time, are read-only here. Editing custom field answers needs the Edit custom field values on Trips & Bookings permission.
Examples
- Flag a late arrival: add the Manifest Note "running 15 minutes late, hold boat" to that reservation.
- Tell the whole team about a wheelchair guest: add a timeslot note so it shows on the Manifest and the Calendar.
- Fix a dietary answer at check-in: select the guest's custom field cell and update it before the cook sheet prints.
- See every note on a trip: select the Diary Notes cell to open the trip's Notes tab.
Frequently asked questions
Can guests see Manifest notes?
No. Manifest Notes, Diary Notes, and timeslot notes are all internal.
What's the difference between a Manifest Note and a diary note?
A Manifest Note is one editable note per reservation that shows in its own column. Diary notes are the trip's running notes, added over time on the trip's Notes tab.
How do I delete a note?
Clear the text and save. There's no separate delete button for Manifest Notes or timeslot notes.
Why can't I edit a custom field on the Manifest?
You need the permission to edit custom field values, and the field has to be a text, yes/no, number, or dropdown field. Other types are read-only on the Manifest.
Where else does a timeslot note appear?
On the Calendar for that date and time, and in the printed Manifest's header.
Do notes work offline?
Editing notes and custom field answers is turned off while you're offline.
