Connect Gemini to TripWorks

Add TripWorks as a custom app in Gemini, approve it with your login, and ask Gemini about your guests, activities, and calls in plain English.

Connect Gemini to TripWorks and you can ask about your guests, activities, locations, and phone calls in plain English, and have Gemini make changes for you after showing a preview. The connection uses MCP, an open standard for linking AI assistants to the tools you already use. For the full picture of what MCP is and how it compares with the REST API, Zapier, and webhooks, see Connect TripWorks to your AI assistant (MCP).

Before you begin. Turning MCP on for your account requires the Setup integrations catalog permission. It comes with the built-in Owner group, or any custom permission group that includes it. If Integrations doesn't appear under Setup, you don't have that permission yet, so ask an account admin to grant it to you.

What you need

  • MCP turned on for your account. Someone with the Setup integrations catalog permission does this once, in step 1 below.
  • Your own TripWorks login on a live account. You approve the connection by signing in as yourself.
  • A Gemini account on a plan that supports custom connectors.
  • The TripWorks server URL: https://mcp.tripworks.com/mcp. It's the same for every account.

Connect Gemini to TripWorks

  1. In TripWorks, go to Setup Integrations, open the MCP card, switch on Enable MCP, and select Save. (Skip this if MCP is already on.)
  2. Select Copy URL next to the MCP Server URL.
  3. In the Gemini web app, go to Connected apps Custom apps for Spark.
  4. Add a new custom app and paste the URL.
  5. Gemini opens a TripWorks page in your browser. Sign in if asked, then choose the account to connect.
  6. Choose Read access, Write access, or both, then select Approve.
  7. Start a new chat in Gemini and ask, "List my experiences." If Gemini answers with your real activities, you're connected.

Not sure about write access? Connect with Read access only. You can connect again later and approve write access when you're ready.

Connect Gemini CLI

For command-line use, add this to your ~/.gemini/settings.json file instead:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tripworks": {
      "httpUrl": "https://mcp.tripworks.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

You'll approve the connection with your TripWorks login the first time you use it.

What Gemini can do once it's connected

With Read access, Gemini can look up your experiences, locations, customers, booking restrictions, promo codes, trip sources, team members, phone calls, and audit log, and search across trips, bookings, customers, gift cards, payments, resellers, and voucher codes. With Write access, it can also create and edit experiences, locations, and booking restrictions, and edit customers. Every change is shown as a preview first. See everything your assistant can do.

Example requests

Try these in a new chat once you're connected:

  • Find guests named Rivera. Gemini searches trips, bookings, and customers and lists the matches.
  • Count how many customers we have in total. Gemini runs a total across your customer records and gives you the number.
  • Find phone calls from last week. Gemini lists recent calls, including AI callbot calls, with what TripWorks recorded.
  • Find our booking restrictions for the ropes course. Gemini lists your restrictions so you can review group minimums and limits.
  • Do create a new experience called Sunset Paddle. Gemini previews the new experience and creates it only after you say yes.

Security and permissions

Gemini runs as you. It can see and do only what your permission group already lets you see and do, and never more. On the approval screen you choose Read access, Write access, or both, which narrows what that one connection can do. Turn Enable MCP off under Setup Integrations MCP and every connected assistant stops working right away. Learn more in how security and permissions work and the User permissions reference.

Only turn on Write access for people you'd trust to make the same edits by hand. Deleting a customer or experience can't be undone.

Frequently asked questions

What is the TripWorks server URL?

https://mcp.tripworks.com/mcp. It's the same for every account. You can copy it from the MCP screen under Setup Integrations.

Can Gemini see everything in my account?

No. Gemini runs as you, so it sees only what your own permission group allows, further limited by the Read and Write choices you made when you approved the connection. See how security and permissions work.

Can Gemini change things without asking me?

No. Every create, edit, and delete starts as a preview, and nothing is saved until it's confirmed. If you approved Read access only, it can't make changes at all.

I approved Read access only. How do I add Write access?

Remove the TripWorks connector in Gemini and add it again with the same URL. On the approval screen, check both Read access and Write access.

How do I disconnect?

To stop every connected assistant at once, turn off Enable MCP under Setup Integrations MCP and save. You can also remove the connector inside Gemini.

I can't find Custom apps in Gemini.

Custom apps depend on your Gemini plan and, for work accounts, your organization's settings. If you don't see the option, check Gemini's help, or ask whoever manages your Google account.
