No. TripWorks platform fees (also called booking fees) are calculated on the pre-tip amount, so a guest's tip never increases what you pay in platform fees.
For example, if a guest leaves a $10 tip on a $100 payment, the platform fee is figured on the $100 — not the $110 they paid.
What about card processing fees?
A tip paid by card still runs through the card networks, so it does carry a credit card processing fee — a small percentage, separate from the platform fee. That amount is tallied and withdrawn from your account at the end of the month rather than taken out of each tip as it comes in.
If you'd rather your team keep the full tip, see avoid credit card processing fees on tips.
Frequently asked questions
Does a bigger tip mean a bigger platform fee?
No. The platform fee is based on the pre-tip total. The tip amount doesn't factor into it, no matter how large.
So tips aren't completely fee-free?
They're free of platform fees. When a tip is paid by card, the card processing fee still applies — it's just billed monthly, not deducted from the tip at the time of payment.
