Pass credit card fees to your customers

Add a surcharge so guests cover the credit card processing fee at checkout instead of you absorbing it — set up as a surcharge on your account.

Rather than absorbing card processing costs yourself, you can pass them to guests at checkout by adding a surcharge on your account. It's a common way for operators to protect their margin on every booking.

Set it up as a surcharge

Credit card fees are handled through the same system as your other taxes and surcharges:

  1. Go to your Taxes & Surcharges settings.
  2. Create a surcharge for the card fee, setting the percentage you want to add.
  3. Apply it so it's added to the guest's total at checkout.

The surcharge then appears in the guest's total when they pay by card, so the processing cost is covered by the transaction rather than coming out of your revenue.

Refunds don't automatically return the processing fee — see Refund a payment — so keep that in mind when setting cancellation terms.
