Use and customize the top menu

The top menu holds search, your main pages, and More. Admins can set the menu for everyone or by group, and anyone can pick their own Home page.

The top menu is the bar across the top of every page in TripWorks. It holds search, the pages your team uses most, a More menu for everything else, and your notifications and account options.

Everyone on your team sees the pages they have access to. Someone with the right permission can choose which pages appear for the whole company, or set up a different menu for a specific group. Anyone can choose their own Home page, the screen TripWorks opens to.

What's changed

The new top menu replaces the old one for everyone except reseller agents. Your pages are all still there.

TripWorks top menu before and after: the old bar with CRM, a settings gear, and your name, above the new bar with Guests, a Customize menu button, and a profile picture
The old menu (top) and the new top menu (bottom).
  • CRM is now named for your guests. It shows whatever your account calls guests, like Guests or Customers.
  • The settings gear moved. Setup is under More, along with everything else that isn't pinned.
  • Your name and company moved into your account menu. Select your picture to switch companies, set your Home page, or sign out.
  • There's a new Customize menu button (the sliders icon) for people who can change the menu.

What's in the top menu

From left to right:

  • Search. Type into Search everything to find a booking, guest, or page. See Search across TripWorks.
  • Your menu. The pages your company pinned. Out of the box these are Sales, Calendar, Manifest, Guests (or your account's word for guests), Register, and Reports.
  • More. Everything else in TripWorks that you have access to, grouped by area, like Sales & operations, Catalog & setup, and Insights. People who can manage users also find Guides under Catalog & setup.
  • Notifications. The bell shows your unread notifications. Beacon, the AI assistant, stays on the tab at the edge of your screen.
  • Your account menu. Switch companies, set your Home page, move Beacon, or sign out.

On a phone or a narrow browser window, the menu collapses into a compact bar with the same items.

Each person only sees the pages they have permission to open. If a teammate is missing a page you can see, check their permission group.

Choose your Home page

Your Home page is the screen TripWorks opens when you log in or select the logo. Anyone can set their own.

  1. Open your account menu (your name or picture at the right end of the menu).
  2. Under Customize layout, select Home page.
  3. Pick a page, like Calendar or Manifest. To go back to your company's choice, select Follow my company.

Your account menu holds your Home page and Beacon position.

If you don't choose one, TripWorks uses your group's Home page, then your company's, then the Dashboard. Guides without access to the Dashboard open to the Manifest instead.

Move or hide Beacon

Under Customize layout in your account menu, use Beacon to put the Help tab on the Left or Right, or Hide it. This setting applies to the device you're on, so you can keep it on the right at your desk and hide it on a front-counter tablet.

Customize the menu for your team

Before you begin. Changing the menu for your company or a group requires the Manage company profile permission. It comes with the built-in Owner group, or any custom permission group that includes it. If you don't see the Customize menu button in the top menu, you don't have that permission yet, so ask an account admin to grant it to you.
Learn how to manage permission groups

Select Customize menu (the sliders button in the top menu) to open the editor. Changes save as you make them and show up for your team right away. Select Done when you finish, and you can undo your item changes there if you change your mind. To start over, select Reset to TripWorks default.

TripWorks Customize menu editor with numbered markers on the Editing selector, an item's drag handle, Add item, the Home page Change button, and the list of people who won't see some items
The menu editor. The numbers match the steps below.
  1. Editing. Choose Everyone or a specific group.
  2. Drag handle. Drag an item to reorder it, or focus it and press Alt plus an arrow key.
  3. Add item. Pin another page.
  4. Change. Set the Home page for this menu.
  5. Some people won't see these items. Who can't open a page you pinned.
  1. Pick who you're editing for. Start with Everyone, the menu your whole company sees. You can also give a permission group its own custom menu.
  2. Add a page. Select Add item, search for the page, and add it.
  3. Arrange it. Drag items into the order you want, or focus one and press Alt plus an arrow key. Items after the line go into More.
  4. Adjust an item. Select an item's ••• to rename it, change its icon, swap it for a different page in the same spot, or remove it.

If some people can't open a page you pin, the editor tells you with Some people won't see these items. The page stays in the menu for everyone who has access and is hidden for everyone else.

A group with a custom menu sees that menu instead of the Everyone menu. A group without one follows Everyone.

When a person belongs to more than one group with a custom menu, use Group priority to decide which one they get. They see the menu of their highest-ranked group.

You can also set a Home page for the company or for a group. Each person's own Home page choice still comes first.

Examples

  • Give your front desk a tighter menu. Create a custom menu for the Front Desk group with just Register, Manifest, and Calendar, and set their Home page to Register.
  • Put Waivers up front during busy season. Add Waivers to the Everyone menu so your team can check signatures in one click.
  • Rename a page to match how your team talks. Rename Sales to "Bookings" in the menu so new staff find it right away.
  • Send managers straight to the numbers. Set the Managers group's Home page to Reports.

Frequently asked questions

Where did the old menu go?

It's been replaced by the top menu. Every page is still there. The ones your company uses most sit in the bar, and everything else you have access to is under More. You can also type a page name into search.

Why don't I see the Customize menu button?

Changing the menu for your company or a group requires the Manage company profile permission. Ask an account admin to add it to your permission group. You can still set your own Home page and Beacon position without it.

Can I change the menu just for myself?

Not the pages in the menu. Those are set for the company or for a group, so your team sees the same thing. You can choose your own Home page and where Beacon sits.

A teammate says a page is missing from their menu. Why?

The menu only shows pages a person has permission to open, so a page you can see may be hidden for them. Check their permission group. If they belong to a group with its own custom menu, they see that menu instead of the Everyone menu.

Do menu changes affect everyone right away?

Yes. Changes save as you make them, and your team sees them the next time their page loads. When you finish editing, you can undo your item changes if you change your mind.

Someone is in two groups that each have a custom menu. Which do they see?

The menu of whichever group is ranked higher under Group priority in the editor. Reorder the groups there to change it.

Can I edit the menu while I'm offline?

No. Editing pauses while you're offline, and any change you just made saves once TripWorks is reachable again. You can still use the menu to get around.

Do reseller agents see this menu?

No. Reseller agents keep their own navigation. See How to navigate TripWorks as a reseller agent.
