Question
How can I change the account where I receive payments? Where do I change the payout bank account that TripWorks pays out to?
Answer
You can change your payout bank account through your Stripe settings in TripWorks. Follow these steps to update the bank account where you receive your funds.
How to Change Your Payout Bank Account
- Click the gear icon in the top menu
- Choose "Integrations" from the menu
- Select "Stripe"
- Click "View Stripe Account"
- From here you can view or change your connected bank account
⚠️ Important: Use a Valid Bank Account Only
If you attempt to connect a debit card, credit card, or prepaid card instead of a bank account, your TripWorks account will be automatically paused. You must have a valid bank account connected in order to process both credits and debits.
Requirements for Payout Accounts
- ✅ USE: A valid business or personal bank account
- ✅ MUST HAVE: Bank account number and routing number
- ❌ DO NOT USE: Debit cards
- ❌ DO NOT USE: Credit cards
- ❌ DO NOT USE: Prepaid cards
What Happens After You Change Your Bank Account
Once you update your bank account in Stripe:
- New payouts will be sent to the updated bank account
- It may take 1-2 business days for Stripe to verify the new account
- Existing pending payouts may still go to the previous account
- You'll receive confirmation from Stripe once the new account is verified
Troubleshooting
If you don't see the "View Stripe Account" button:
- Ensure you have the correct permissions in your TripWorks access group
- Contact your account administrator if you need access
If you're having trouble connecting your bank account:
- Verify you're using a bank account, not a debit card
- Check that your bank account and routing numbers are correct
- Ensure the account is active and in good standing
- Contact your bank if you continue to have issues
Why Can't I Use a Debit Card?
Stripe and TripWorks require direct bank account connections for payouts because:
- Bank accounts provide more secure and reliable transfers
- Debit cards have lower limits and may reject large payouts
- Bank accounts ensure faster processing times
- In the event of a debit (such as for a chargeback), we may need to debit your connected bank account if there are insufficient funds in your pending payout or your reserve.
