Google Analytics is a powerful tool that helps you understand how people interact with your website, social media, and other online marketing efforts.

By integrating Google Analytics with your TripWorks account, you gain valuable insights into how users engage with your website and Experience Catalog. This integration allows you to answer key questions like:

  • Who visited my website and booked a hiking tour?
  • Who viewed my hiking tour but didn’t make a purchase?
  • Which experiences are attracting the most views?
  • Which experiences have the highest conversion rates?

Once the integration is set up, TripWorks will send this data directly to your Google Analytics account. You’ll be able to view it in the Conversion Report section and make more informed decisions based on actual customer behavior.

About Google Analytics (GA4) Measurement ID

A measurement ID in Google Analytics is a unique identifier for a web data stream (which is a website registered within Google Analytics). The format of a measurement ID in Google Analytics 4 is 'G-' followed by a combination of numbers and letters, such as 'G-PSW1MY7HB4.'

The measurement ID acts as a critical link, connecting your website to the corresponding data stream in Google Analytics 4. It ensures that the data from your site is sent to the right location.

In Google Analytics 4, the measurement ID is the same ID as the destination ID.

Finding Your Google Analytics (GA4) Measurement ID

To find the measurement ID, follow these steps:

  1. In Admin, under Data collection and modification, click Data streams.
Note: The previous link opens to the last Analytics property you accessed. You can change the property using the property selector. You must be an Editor or above at the property level to find your measurement ID.
  1. Select the Web tab.
  2. Click the web data stream.
  3. Find the measurement ID in the first row of the stream details.

Connecting TripWorks to Google Analytics

Activate Integration on TripWorks

  1. Log in to your TripWorks account.
  2. From the toolbar, go to More > Discover More.
  3. Either choose Google Analytics, or choose See More... and then select Google Analytics.
  4. Select the Activate button associated with the Google Analytics option. (If you have previously activated the integration, the button may say "Configure".)
  5. Follow the steps to setup cross-domain linking. This step ensures that first-party measurement cookies between a source domain (your website) and a destination domain (tripworks.com) are transferred.
  6. Follow the steps to provide TripWorks with your Google Measurement ID. This will enable us to send conversion events to your Google Analytics account. You can optionally send Google Analytics traffic to more than one account. This can be useful for troubleshooting, or if you work with a third party marketing agency. To do so, separate each measurement ID with a comma.
  7. Ensure the Active checkbox is selected.
  8. Choose Save.

Enable Data Collection for Your Website

You'll need to add Google Analytics to your website. Specific instructions vary depending on your web hosting platform, and whether you use Google Tag manager or not. A few common cases are described below.

Wordpress.com

This guide will show you how to add Google Analytics to your website.

  1. Visit your site’s dashboard on WordPress.com.
  2. Navigate to Tools → Marketing (or Jetpack → Settings if using WP Admin).
  3. Select the Traffic tab.
  4. Scroll about halfway down the page to the Google section.
  5. In the box labeled “Google Analytics Measurement ID,” paste in your tag ID.
  6. Click the “Save settings” button.

Your site will now connect to Google Analytics and send data to Google. Give it time for Google to start displaying your site’s information (statistics will not appear from before your site was connected to Google Analytics.)

If you do not see visits reported after 24-48 hours and know you have had visitors based on your Jetpack Stats, go back to your Google Analytics dashboard. Check the following:

  • Your domain is spelled correctly.
  • Your domain does not contain www,
  • It matches your primary site address.

If it meets all of those criteria, generate a new tag ID. Enter the new ID in your site’s settings as outlined above.

Webflow

You can add the Google Analytics integration to your site to track data and information about site visitor behavior. Note that Webflow only currently accepts Google Analytics 4 measurement IDs. You do not need a paid site or Workspace plan to integrate Google Analytics into your site.

  1. Go to Site settings > Integrations tab > Google Analytics
  2. Paste your measurement ID in the Measurement ID field
  3. Click Save changes
  4. Publish your site

Wix

  2. Under “Advanced”, click Marketing Integrations.
  3. In the “Google Tag” box, click Connect.
  4. Click Add Google Tag.

All other website builders

If you are using a CMS or website builder that doesn't provide a field to enter your Google tag ID, you'll need to paste your Google tag into your website using your CMS's custom HTML feature.

  1. In Admin, under Data collection and modification, click Data streams.
Note: The previous link opens to the last Analytics property you accessed. You can change the property using the property selector. You must be an Editor or above at the property level to create.
  1. Click Web.
  2. Click the data stream for your website.
  3. Under Google tag, click View tag instructions.
  4. On the Installation instructions page, select Install manually:
    • On the screen, you’ll see the JavaScript snippet for your account's Google tag. Your Google tag is the entire section of code that appears, beginning with:

      <!-- Google tag (gtag.js) -->

      and ending with

      </script>

Paste your Google tag to your website using your CMS's custom HTML feature. Follow your CMS's instructions on how to do this below:
