Yes. TripWorks supports physical gift cards — cards with codes pre-printed or stamped on them that you hand to customers at checkout. Once your gift card program is enabled, TripWorks tracks each card’s balance and redemption history automatically.
How it works
When you sell a gift card through TripWorks, you choose how the redemption code is assigned:
- Auto-generate — TripWorks creates a unique code. Use this for digital gift cards or when you’re printing the code at the time of sale.
- Enter manually — You type in the code already printed on the physical card. This is what enables hard gift cards.
With manual entry, you stock physical card stock with codes pre-printed on each card. When a customer buys one, you pull a card off the shelf, enter its code into TripWorks during the sale, and the card is activated. TripWorks ties that code to the sale and begins tracking the balance.
Example
An operator orders a batch of physical gift cards from a print vendor, each with a unique code pre-printed on the back. At checkout, when a customer wants to purchase one, the operator selects a card, enters its code into TripWorks to complete the sale, and hands the card to the customer. When the recipient books later, they present the code and TripWorks applies the balance to their booking.
Tracking and redemption
Whether a code was auto-generated or manually entered, TripWorks tracks:
- The current balance on the code
- When and how it was redeemed
- The original sale amount
You can look up any code at any time from More > Gift Cards to see its status and remaining balance.
The gift card program must be enabled before you can sell physical or digital gift cards. See Setting Up Gift Cards to get started.
