Create Booking Restrictions

Set limitations regarding how and when customers can book experiences.

Booking restrictions determine when and how customers can book your experiences. With booking restrictions, you can:

Specify booking minimums Used when your tour isn't cost-effective to operate until, say, at least 4 travelers book the experience.

Specify booking maximums
Used when, for instance, you don't want more than 10 people in a single booking or tour group.

Automatically close timeslots
Prevent travelers from booking an experience too close to the event start time.

Set a pre-sale window limit Prevent customers from booking too far in advance.

Display a ticket countdown A "seats left" countdown that begins at a specified number of unsold tickets.

Display a "sold out" message
Visible to online shoppers when an experience is fully booked.

Unlike Capacity Limits‍, which allow you to set caps on the total number of people who can book each timeslot for an experience, booking restrictions allow you to set caps and other preferences regarding the individual bookings that comprise each timeslot. That said, a single booking restriction can be applied to one or several experiences at once to save you time.

Create Booking Restrictions

  1. Select More > Discover More from the toolbar, then choose the Booking Restrictions link.
  2. Choose the Create Restriction button.
  3. Give your restriction a clear but concise name. For later ease of use, it's beneficial to name each restriction after the quality or qualities that distinguish it from the other restrictions.

  4. Define your desired settings in the booking restriction table. For guidance, see Booking Restriction Settings‍.

  5. To limit how far in advance this experience can be booked, select the "Prevent online buyers" checkbox and fill in the corresponding fields.

  6. To show a countdown of remaining tickets to online shoppers, select the "Display 'Only X Seats Left'" checkbox and fill in the corresponding field to indicate the point at which you want the countdown to begin.

  7. By default, your booking calendar will display a "Call to Book" message when a selected timeslot is sold out. If there is another phrase you prefer, update the Sold Out/Call To Book Label text field. For a more user-friendly e-commerce experience, keep the messaging as concise as possible (ideally a 2- to 3-word phrase).

  8. Select the Save button.
